    2. I will respond by asking you five questions.
    3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) in your journal.
    4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
    5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. This is the meme that never ends.

    Inspiration?
I've been such an awful member lately...I'm sorry! During the summer I work full-time during the day, and go to graduate classes at night from 5:45-9:30pm. It sucks every bit of energy out of me and I haven't been doing any makeup worth posting.

I need some inspiration, badly. If you could post your favorites (non-editorial, please...I like to see how people do it in real life!) that would be amazing. Hopefully I'll have a FOTD for this week!

And happy 4th to everyone =)

    Books 41 - 45
Done with 45 books now, leaving me 5 to finish before the end of September. I think I'm doing pretty good.

    41. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows

Interesting book, written as a series of letters. It takes place after WWII, and gives some insights into the war that other books don't really cover. They focus more on the Holocaust than on the other elements. For a full review, go here.
    Genre: Historical Fiction
    Rating: 4/5

    42. Around the World in Eighty Days, by Jules Verne

I think this is the 4th or 5th time I've attempted to read this book, and because of DailyLit, I actually managed to get through it. Once again, it didn't meet my expectations, as the characters seem rather... bland, but it's good to read for the classical value of it, I suppose.
    Genre: Classics
    Rating: 4/5

    43. The Lost World, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

I expected quite a bit out of this book as well, and I was disappointed. I understand that this book was written in a different time and place, but I cringed each time I read something about how the natives were inferior and women were silly creatures. Other than that, it was an interesting plot and the characters were quite interesting.
    Genre: Classics
    Rating: 4/5

    44. Emma, by Jane Austen

I'm trying to get through all of Austen's books. I've read (and loved) Pride and Prejudice, and I just got through Sense and Sensibility a few months ago. Finally, I had time to read through Emma. Honestly, I liked it a whole lot more than Sense and Sensibility, but it still doesn't compare to Pride and Prejudice, I don't think. I liked how the characters were developed, but my mind wandered to the point where I had to reread passages several times to figure out what was going on. Still, I'm glad I read it, and the story does seem worth the read.
    Genre: Classics
    Rating: 4.5/5

    45. Secret Vampire (Night World, Book 1), by L. J. Smith

I'm honestly not sure what to make of this one. I heard some amazing reviews about it, so I added it to my list and gave it a try. I loved the world that was created, but I felt that the characters were flat and the book ended too soon to really get into it. I mean, I read through it in 3 hours, including time that I was dealing with my sister and driving her places. I think I'll try some of the other books in the series, but it might be a while before I pick them up.
    Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy

21  KIDNAPPED   Robert Louis Stevenson (Scotland, 1886)

The adventures of David Balfour in Scotland and among the Highlanders as he tries to regain his rightful inheritance.

Stevenson is one of my favorite writers of all time and I really enjoyed this adventure in Scotland. As usual with Stevenson, it was full of humor and the characters were touching. His characters are always so human! He has a great understanding of our nature.

Yet I have to say it's not his best. Novels like The Ebb-Tide, The Wrong Box and The Master of Ballantrae are much better because they're darker. But of course his best books are unknown to most people. Sad but true :(  .

Will Chris Brown follow in the footsteps of other celebrity abusers by continuing to enjoy success?
Or was his real mistake, not beating his girlfriend, but beating his famous girlfriend?

You can't tell from the pic, but the remorse is eating him alive

Ya Heard: Now what for Chrianna?
    Dennis Winn/News & Messenger columnist
"Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future."
    — Paul Boese

And just like that; it's a wrap! The Chrianna scandal that captivated us all earlier this year came to a conclusion. On Monday, Chris Brown agreed to a plea deal that will allow him to avoid jail time as a result of beating his former R&B girlfriend Rihanna in early February. The conditions of the deal include five years probation as well as 180 days of community service that he will serve right here in VA.

While the legalities of this incident are now over, the questions now lies in what lasting affects this will have for the young stars as they move forward. Back in February I laid down a full-proof plan that would ensure a successful comeback for the woman-beating Brown. I wasn’t implying that I agreed with his actions by any means, but I felt that America would be open to giving the kid a second chance if he played his cards right. Well instead of following any advice and shedding a few tears on Oprah's couch and being completely remorseful in front of paparazzi cameras, the guy decided to party like a rock star for the last four months.America is willing to forgive almost anything if responsibility is taken for a wrong done; unfortunately for Chris, he may not have done enough to receive that ''social pardon'' )

Chris Brown & Rihanna's performances at the 2007 VMAs: he danced to Billie Jean, blew everyone away and Justin Timberlake admitted that he couldn't dance like Chris

This was the performance that made me a fan. I'm torn: It would be hypocritical of me to claim that being abusive/a criminal makes it impossible for me to enjoy his talent--b/c I still love Papa's Got a Brand New Bag, I still listen to Proud Mary and I loved The Pianist (and none of the men responsible for those works ever cried on Oprah)--but IDK it's still so fresh and it happened so early in his career IDK.

For the inevitable "Who?" comments, she was basically Def Jam's answer to Avril Lavigne. When they realized that didn't particularly sell they dropped her and her amazing second album Sunday Love was lost in the wreckage. It's now online. Her third album Joy is expected to drop in September.

    No surprise there then

Cut out of his son Michael's will earlier this week, Joe Jackson is doing exactly the dignified thing you'd expect: he's going down swinging. From the Chicago Sun Times:

It's hard to believe, but a source close to Joe Jackson -- who is working with him on several new business projects -- says the outspoken patriarch of the Jackson clan may find himself further alienating his estranged wife, Katherine Jackson, and a number of his children.

The reason? Joe Jackson reportedly made several comments Tuesday -- after learning details about Michael Jackson's will -- that he might consider challenging the document that reportedly doesn't mention him at all. Though it's well-known that Joe Jackson had had a difficult and often strained relationship with his son, my source tells me he was "still pretty pissed that there was no mention of him in the will whatsoever."

Dude, I really think this guy is Satan. Look at that picture of him above -- taken mere hours after his son's death. He looks like he's at a fucking carnival. I've seen kids at Disneyland holding cotton candy in one hand and a balloon in the other who looked less happy than that.

You Can All Just Drop Fucking Dead!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Kudos to Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema who have opted to share with readers some violent images, as opposed to the cast and crew running around the set with their heads cut off. Beyond the break you can take a look at a handful of hi-res stills from The Final Destination, which arrives in theaters August 28th. The 3-D sequel in the popular franchise will be going toe-to-toe with Rob Zombie's Halloween II, an idiotic idea that's sure to split the horror audiences over the weekend. No matter who wins, we lose. Thanks guys.

Hayden P doesn't regret misspelled tattoo
    26197_large-588.jpg

It doesn't bother Hayden Panettiere that a tattoo artist misspelled her tattoo.
The 19-year-old 'Heroes' star wanted live without regret written in Italian on her side but what she got was "Vivere Senza Rimipianti" and rimipianti has one "I" too many.

But the actress isn't fazed, according to WENN. "It is misspelled, whatever, I just put my own spin to it. Chances are I'll probably get it fixed, but that's why I love having it on my back because I don't get bored of it," she laughs.

And the placement of the ink is important. "I don't have to stare at it all the time, but then you have it on your back and you don't realize that it's misspelled either!" she adds.

    Books 13-15/50
Book 13 was "Anne of Green Gables" by LM Montgomery. I must be one of the few people who never read this series when I was younger. I've had the first 3 books forever but never read them. I pulled it out for some light reading after a King novel. It was perfect. I can't wait to read the next 2 in the series I have. I like Montgomery's writing style and can't wait to find out what happens in Anne's life along the bends in the road!

Amazon review for those who don't know the story... )

Book 14 was "Finger Lickin' Fifteen" by Janet Evanovich. I wouldn't normally have bought and read this book in hardcover. But it was on sale and.. to be honest... I love the Stephanie Plum stories and couldn't help myself. This one is a lot funnier than others were. I found myself laughing out loud at parts. This one is about a character who reminds me of Bobby Flay. So it is especially funny to those who love the Food Network. Great if you love the series and want something quick and easy.

    Amazon review back here.. )

Book 15 was "Savannah Blues" by Mary Kaye Andrews. I seem to have gotten on a chick lit kick that I can't get out of. I read the second of this series "Savannah Breeze" earlier this summer and my sister had bought this one, along with some of the other Andrews books. It took me a bit to get into the story line, since I'm not much into antiques or old Plantation houses in the south. But the story moved quickly and it held my attention. Kinda sad that I already had some character background though, since the characters are really introduced and developed in this one. Check it out if you're into the chick lit scene and want something a little Southern.

Website for Jackson tickets gets 500 million hits in first hour

Organizers of Michael Jackson's memorial said that in the first hour after ticket details were announced this morning, the website www.staplescenter.com had received more than 500 million hits.

Fans must register on the site for a chance to be awarded, by lottery, a pair of the 17,500 free tickets that will be made available to the public for Tuesday's memorial service.

A news release from the Jackson family said the website is set up to prevent duplicate registrations from being accepted and that registering more than once would not increase a person’s chance of getting the wristbands and tickets necessary for the event.

Meantime, up in Los Olivos, the owners of Neverland Ranch released a statement today saying they will not allow any more tours or interviews to be conducted at the estate until the memorial service is over. The statement read:

"In deference to Michael Jackson and his family, Neverland Ranch will close its magical gates to the media and will not conduct any events from 7:00 pm Friday, July 3 until after the scheduled memorial for Michael Jackson on Tuesday, July 7. This will enable all of us, including his fans and family, to focus on the Tuesday celebration of Michael’s life at the Staples Center in Los Angeles."
